About Affect Change

Affect Change is a social media application and service that allows our Members to create and share digital content in relation to life affecting stories and ideas. The Affect Change Service is available at www.Affect Change.us and through the Affect Change App which may be downloaded for certain smart phones. From time to time Affect Change may offer Affect Change Services on other websites. The Content Affect Change Members can share currently includes videos and information related to videos including comments, captions, location information, and other types of information about and relating to videos. Most Affect Change Users take videos using their camera phones and then upload and share these videos through the Affect Change App and Affect Change Service. From time to time Affect Change may expand the types of Content Members can collect, organize, and share. Affect Change provides tools that allow Members to control public access to and sharing of their Content in accordance with this policy. The system allows you to upload a video to Affect Change. When you upload a video, you will have the opportunity to provide it with a title, as well as an option to select specific challenge categories you would like the video included in. In addition, you will have the option of posting the video or photo through Facebook or Twitter.

Affect Change knows that you value your privacy. If you have any questions concerning this Privacy Policy, please email us at contact@AffectChange.us

This Policy explains how Affect Change collects, uses, and may in some cases disclose information collected through your use of Affect Change. This policy is expressly incorporated into our Terms of Use.

Personal Information. Affect Change collects Member-submitted information such as name, email address, and phone number to authenticate Users and to send notifications to those Users relating to the Affect Change Service. Affect Change may also collect other data, including but not limited to, personal interests, gender, age, education, and occupation in order to assist Users in finding and communicating with each other, and to enable Affect Change to deliver a more personalized service to each Member.

Affect Change’s Terms are expressly part of this Privacy Policy. The Affect Change Services may be supported and made available through advertising and related promotional support. In doing so, Affect Change may track certain technical information about you and your use of the Affect Change Services. Various technologies may be used and these technologies may change over time or as new methods and technologies develop. We want to be direct with you. Most of the Affect Change Services are free, but providing them has costs which we try to recover (and earn a profit) through the financial support of others.
Device I.D.Affect Change collects our Users’ Device I.D.s associated with their mobile device in order to enforce our Terms of Use including removal of comments that violate the terms or to limit or terminate other behavior which we deem in our sole judgment to be inconsistent with Affect Change’s mission.
IP Addresses and Technical Information.Affect Change also logs non-personally identifiable information including profile information, aggregate-user data, and browser and phone type, from Members and visitors to the website and application. This data is used to manage the website, track usage, and improve the Affect Change Services. This non-personally-identifiable information may be shared with third parties to provide more relevant services including, but not limited to, advertising to Members. User IP addresses may be recorded for security and monitoring purposes.
User Profiles.User Profile information including real name, Members’ pictures and User-chosen Affect Change usernames are displayed to other Members to facilitate User interaction in the Affect Change community. A Member’s Affect Change username is used primarily to add the User to other Members’ friends list, and to enable other Members to share their Content with the User. When a Member joins a topic or story, their username may be visible to other Members who also subscribe to that topic or story. When a Member shares Content with other Members, the User’s Affect Change username will be visible to the other Members viewing the shared Content. Because other Users may see a Member’s username, Members may consider creating a username that is not personally identifiable in and of itself. A member’s username is also used to create a profile for that User. Usernames are issued by and property of Affect Change. Affect Change reserves any and all rights to issue, modify, suspend, or otherwise limit and control the use of particular usernames although it is under no obligation to do so.
Email addresses.A Member’s email address may be used for the purposes of inviting new friends to join Affect Change. Affect Change may also use a Member’s email address to send updates, a newsletter, or news regarding the Affect Change Service.

Sharing Content with Other Members and the Public

The Content Affect Change Members can share currently includes videos and information about those videos including comments, location, captions, etc. From time to time Affect Change may expand the types of Content Members can create and share. Members may have certain levels of control over the sharing of their Content. The system defaults all Members’ Content to be public.
You may choose to share any piece of your Content present in the Affect Change Service with one or more members of the Service and/or the public.
Sharing and Channels. You may choose to share any piece of your own Content present in the Affect Change Service in an Affect Change Channel.

Please be aware that the visibility of an item shared in a Channel will often be different from that specified by sharing the same item with your own Friends Lists. An item shared in a Channel may be visible to a very large audience or the public. The rules for sharing of a Channel may change after you have posted your Content to the Channel.

Modifying and Removing Content. You may remove a video or photo by logging into the Affect Change System and clicking on the said video. Once selecting the video that you’d like to remove follow the settings steps outlined within the Affect Change app. Please note that Content removal or modification may not be immediate as a result of technical limitations, therefore after deleting or modifying your Content there may be a period of time where it is still visible on Affect Change.

In addition to any other purposes set forth in this Privacy Policy, Affect Change may process personal information collected through your use of Affect Change for the following purposes:

Invitations and Other Communications to Non-Members

On occasion Affect Change may enable its Members to invite friends to join the service by sending invitation emails via our automated invitation system. When Members send such invitations, Affect Change will store the Member’s friends’ email addresses to facilitate the invitation and registration process. Affect Change does not sell these email addresses or use them to send any other communication besides invitations and invitation reminders. Recipients of invitations from Affect Change may contact Affect Change at: contact@AffectChange.us to request the removal of their information from our database. Such information may be retained for legal purposes and to otherwise assist Affect Change in observing the recipient’s request.

Affect Change Members may also store email addresses, phone numbers, and other contact information of people they know in their personal Affect Change Contact list.

Third-Party Advertising

Affect Change or one of our advertising partners may deliver ads appearing on the Affect Change Service. This Privacy statement covers the use of cookies by Affect Change and does not cover the use of cookies by any advertisers.

Affect Change Member accounts are secured by Member-created passwords. Affect Change takes precautions to ensure that Member-account information is kept private. Please note that we cannot guarantee the security of Member-account information. Unauthorized entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors may compromise the security of Member information at any time.

If Affect Change learns of a security-systems breach we may attempt to notify you electronically so that you can take appropriate protective steps. Affect Change may post a notice on our website if a security breach occurs. If this happens, you will need a web browser enabling you to view the website. Affect Change may also send an email to you at the email address you have provided to us in these circumstances. Depending on where you live, you may have a legal right to receive notice of a security breach in writing. To receive free written notice of a security breach (or to withdraw your consent from receiving electronic notice) you should notify us at contact@AffectChange.us

Sharing and Disclosure of Information Affect Change Collects

Affect Change reserves the right to transfer personal information to a successor in interest that acquires rights to that information because of the sale of Affect Change or substantially all of its assets to that successor in interest.

From time to time we may make changes to our Privacy Policy. Our most current Privacy Policy will always be posted on all Affect Change Websites. A User is bound by any minor changes to the Policy when she or he uses the website after those changes have been posted. If, however, we are going to use Users’ personally identifiable information in a manner materially less restrictive from that stated at the time of collection we will seek to obtain your consent through reasonable means which may include posting a notice on our website for 30 days.
